With the development and progress of science, the emergence of new bulletproof materials, soldiers' bulletproof helmets have also undergone different changes.
There are three main types of bulletproof helmet in the market: The Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops Helmet (PASGT HELMET), The Modular Integrated Communications Helmet (MICH HELMET), The Future Assault Shell Technology Helmet (FAST HELMET).
1. PASGT HELMET
The Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops is used by the United States military from the 1980s until the 2000s as one component, include a combat helmet and bulletproof vest. The PASGT helmet was developed by the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center after the Vietnam War. But it was later replaced by the LWH and MICH helmet, which are more comfortable to wear.
2. MICH HELMET
Modular Integrated Communications Helmet (MICH HELMET)is the next generation of PASGT helmet. It was produced in 2001,aiming to design a ballistic helmet more lighter to wear additional combat accessories, especially night vision google and communications headsets. The MICH HELMET was named the Advanced Combat Helmet (ACH) by United States Army in 2002.
3. FAST HELMET
The Future Assault Shell Technology helmet was showed at the annual SHOT Show in 2009, and then it was soon issued to U.S. special operations forces in Afghanistan.Today, different variants of FAST helmets are used by various military. Compare with PASGT helmet and MICH helmet , the biggest difference of FAST helmet is that it features high cut sides, leaving the ears exposed. The same as MICH helmet, it can also wear additional combat accessories. But it’s lighter than MICH helmet.
